Abstract

The Bob Adelman Photographs contain roughly 600 black and white photographs documenting leaders and events of the American Civil Rights Movement from the early to late 1960s. Featured prominently in the collection are images depicting James Farmer and C.O.R.E., Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcolm X. The collection also consists of portraits of celebrities such as James Baldwin, Amira Baraka, Sidney Poitier, and Lilian Smith. Additional images depict scenes of African Americans in urban and rural scenes during the 1970s and 1980s.
