The Washington Daily American was an African American daily newspaper published in Washington, D.C., during the early 20th century. Edited by Eugene C. Davidson, the paper described itself as the “Oldest Colored Daily in the United States” and served as a platform for Black political, social, and community news. Like many Black newspapers of its era, it reported on issues overlooked by white-owned publications, including civil rights, education, church activities, and racial discrimination in the nation’s capital.
