Abstract
Edna Greene Medford, Associate Professor of History at Howard University, Washington, DC, was instrumental in the development of the story that is told at the Presidential Museum. In particular, Professor Medford was a driving force behind the Slave Auction gallery. When she visited Springfield in February, 2009 to receive the prestigious Order of Lincoln Laureate, Kathryn Harris, Library Services Director, interviewed her to discuss her research on Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, emancipation, the Bicentennial, and related issues. In addition, Professor Medford shared her insights regarding the creation of the Slave Auction gallery.
