Notes: Historical data, memorabilia, and photographs concerning the Hobson Normal Institute, Parsons, Kan., founded in 1882 (and closed in 1896) by the Iowa Yearly Meeting of the Society of Friends as a school for training teachers and providing higher education for Afro-American youth in the border states. Includes biographical information about the school's first principal, Darius W. Bowles, and members of his family, as well as material about the Society of Hobsonites. Gift of the Society of Hobsonites, 1953.
