Notes: U.S. Senator from Mississippi (1874-1880). Consists of research notes, a bibliography, and other documents used by Sadie Daniel St. Clair to write a dissertation about Bruce. Includes correspondence with Bruce's family, constituents and political allies of the State of Mississippi, and letters in support of candidates for appointments and pensions. Among the well known names are James Hill, John R. Lynch, P. B. S. Pinchback, and J. J. Spelman. Also contains information about the Plummer Family (1787-1852).
