Abstract
The successful reconstruction of cleft lip and palate is inextricably connected with orthodontic care and skeletal surgery. It is now clear that orthognathic surgery is a necessary component of treatment for the majority of individuals born with unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP), bilateral cleft lip and palate (BCLP), and isolated cleft palate (ICP) that have undergone palate repair in infancy.
