Abstract

The authors present two case reports that illustrate synthetic hair braid extension artifacts in panoramic radiographs. They found that hairstyles using synthetic hair braid extensions created radiopaque patterns that varied according to hair-styles. They discuss how these hair extensions may affect panoramic radiographs and the importance of determining whether patients are wearing synthetic hair braid extensions.
