Ferebee has been acting director of the Health Service since 1943. A native of Norfolk, Va., she holds degrees from Simmons College and Tufts Medical School. She has been a practicing physician in Washington for 27 years. An outstanding civil leader, Dr. Ferebee is a member of the board of directors of the American Association for the UN, an executive committee-woman for the World YMCA, member of the board of directors of the National Urban League, and member of the policy committee of the U.S. State Department's International Center in Washington. She was formerly national president of the National Council of Negro Women and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority."
