Description
Blood Bank Pooling Room NY-1283: NEW YORK -- Ultraviolet rays from Sterilamps protect blood plasma being prepare in the blood bank at Presbyterian Hospital here, from bacteria in the air. Photograph shows the blood bank pooling room. Technician Josiah Lasell is drawing plasma from a bottle of blood. The Sterilamp above the apparatus and two more affixed to the ceiling bathe the cubicle in ultraviolet rays. Research results from this and other blood banks are the basis of a national defense project to collect plasma for the Navy and Army.
