  • Serving with the famed 2nd Marine Division at a Marine Base in the South Pacific is Marine Private First Class William K. Caldwell Jr., 30, 1006 West Chestnut Street, Louisville, Ky. He graduated from Central High School in Louisville in 1931, having starred in football and basketball. He attended Municipal College, Louisville, for one year. He worked at Brevoort Hotel, Chicago, the Sealback Hotel in Louisville, and for E. I. duPont de Nemours and Co. in their powder plant at Charleston Indiana, prior to induction into the Marine Corps in August, 1943. His parents live at the Louisville address. he has been overseas for several months.

Before induction into the Marine Corps, Sergeant Kirven attended Mayo High School, Darlington, South Carolina and Morris College in Sumpter, S.C., where he studied theology. For two years he was an Evangelist in South Carolina and Phila. His wife, the former Sylvia Waters of Philadelphia, lives at the above address. His mother, Mrs. Rose Kirven, lives in Darlington S.C. He has been overseas for several months.
