Howard University Digitized Yearbooks
The Howard University yearbook is one of the major university publications produced by students. During the period 1914-1922, individual yearbooks were produced by university Departments. Extant yearbooks are available from the Academy, College Department, and Teachers College. There are no yearbooks for 1921. The early yearbooks provide images and information about graduating classes; student life and activities; student clubs and organizations; faculty and staff; student athletics; and campus scenes and buildings.
The student yearbook providing images and information about university activities on a broad institutional basis was the Bison, starting in 1923. The Bison yearbooks cover the period 1923-2012. Missing issues include the years 1932, 1935-1941, 1944-1945. Like previous yearbooks, the Bison presents images and information documenting various aspects of university life. There are images showing graduating classes from the schools and colleges; freshman, sophomore and junior class images; faculty and staff; student life and activities; student clubs and activities; campus scenes and buildings; student athletics; major university events and convocations; and visiting dignitaries.
