"More than 2,400 students received Engineering Defense Training at Howard under the general supervision of the U.S. Office of Education during the war, and many scores of soldiers received training which led to commissions. More than a score of Howardites made the supreme sacrifice on battlefields in Europe and the Pacific. Photos show a variety of activities at Howard and overseas.
