The Afro- Amercian Sentinel 1896-1899

Published in Omaha, Nebraska, from 1893 to 1899, the Afro-American Sentinel was a Black-owned weekly newspaper edited by civil rights advocate Cyrus D. Bell. The paper covered African American community life, politics, religion, and civil rights while exposing racial discrimination in Nebraska. Known for its outspoken opposition to lynching and racial injustice, the Afro-American Sentinel served as a powerful voice for Black empowerment in the Midwest during the late nineteenth century.
