Abstract
The papers of Max Yergan (1892 - 1975) missionary, educator, civil rights activist, and sociologist are in 12 series: personal papers; family materials; correspondence; writings by Yergan; speeches by Yergan; writings by others; speeches by others; organizational affiliations; research files; photographs; subject files; artifacts. The bulk of this collection is made up of Yergan=s writings, which span his entire career 1917 to 1968. Photographs include some portraits of Yergan. There are images of Yergan with notable figures such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Mary Mcleod Bethune and Prime Minister Nehru of India.
