Description

Negro Army Quartet Brings Down House at Marine Smoker_ At a smoker given at a South Pacific base by a Marine Air Wing for soldiers, sailors, and Marines, this quartet of soldiers furnished the vocal entertainments. Pictured here, singing "Ain't Gonne Study War No Mo," are Private Mayfield, Private First Class Donsette, Private Knight and Technician Fourth Grade Johnson, all of Army engineering outfit. Following the smoker the newly opened amusement area was formally dedicated to the memory of Major Gregory Boyington, who is missing in action after having shot down 26 Jap[anese] planes.
