Major T.L. Hungate is shown receiving an engraved watch which was presented to him by Dr. Mordecai W. Johnson on behalf of the Trustees, faculties, students and alumni of Howard University in apperciation of nine years of esteemed service to the university as chairman of the Board of Trustees. He resigned his position to enter upon his duties as a Major in the U.S. Army.
